There is a moment in every session when it clicks.
A student who used to go quiet when called on starts answering without hesitation. His sentences are clearer. His confidence is real. And when the English exam results come back, the scores reflect exactly what we have been watching happen in real time.
That is what our volunteer teachers make possible. They show up every week, sometimes on holidays, sometimes after long workdays, because they know these kids are counting on them. Consistent practice builds something that cannot be rushed, and these young people are proof of that.
For children growing up in institutional homes, the clock runs until age 18. After that, they are on their own. The English skills, the communication habits, the confidence built in these sessions go with them into job interviews, into workplaces, into life. This is not extra support. It is essential.

The A250 project is picking up momentum, and we want you to see it!
The goal is straightforward: place emergency kits in orphanages across all 47 prefectures in Japan. The green on the map shows the commitments we have already received, and we are deeply thankful to every partner and supporter who made that possible.
We are building toward July 4th, the United States' 250th Birthday, as a meaningful milestone to celebrate this effort and push toward full coverage.
But we are not there yet. There are still prefectures on the map waiting to turn green.

When our champions leave the orphanage, our work does not end.
At YouMeWe, mentors continue walking with mentees and scholars through their first year of higher education. That means weekly check-ins and a commitment of 5 hours a month, helping with real life things like furnishing an apartment, planning a 4-year budget for tuition and living costs, learning how to make a quick meal, or speaking up when someone takes advantage of them.
We do not say goodbye. They become part of Empower Village, a steady home they can always come back to.

Since the beginning, we have brought the principals of the homes we support into donor offices.

At the 2026 Copenhagen Summit, a panel called 'Youth & AI: Where We Go' brought together researchers and youth advocates to talk honestly about AI and kids.
The clearest takeaway? Technology isn't the biggest risk factor for a child's mental health. Weak relationships are.
The experts pointed to one thing that consistently protects young people as they navigate screens, algorithms, and an AI-shaped world: strong IRL connections. Real people. Consistent presence. Someone who shows up.
That's exactly what our volunteers do every week.
We give the children we support access to devices and digital tools so they're not left behind. But it's the volunteer sitting with them, preparing for an exam, talking through a problem, just being there, that builds the kind of resilience no app can replicate.
