SOS Village in the Philippines has great programming lessons

SOS Village Lessons

After spending the last few months focused on learning with Night Zoo Keeper our students at SOS Village requested to start programming again. The kids asked to make a game where you drive a vehicle on rolling grass hills. It was a fun challenge to draw the vehicles and make the rolling green hills to drive around. The kids worked really hard and did a great job.

Amazing lesson at Thanan in the Philippines

We a teaching great lessons in the Philippines.

Our students are explain what game they want to make today.

Today our teacher Daniel Mercier worked with the kids of Thanan Home in the Philippines to develop a new game of their own design. The children showed him one of their favorite toys and asked to develop a similar game. They started by creating the art and laying out the world of the game. Getting the marble physics just right was really difficult but the kids kept working on it and it all came together.

You…Me…We…did a lot in 2024/2025

As the founder of YouMeWe, I am reminded that it all started with just a thought.

This then grew into an organization where students from all over the world came to Japan to be a part of our journey. Helping the children in Japan on their journeys.

Though YouMeWe was founded in 2018, this is the 18th year for me in the space of helping Children in orphanages grow into the best versions of themselves.

We met with our champions every week throughout 2024 and arranged about 500 presents for the children in Japan, the Philippines, and Brazil at the end of the year. We spent hundreds of hours reminding them that their future is worth cherishing.

All these incredible achievements were made possible by the unwavering support of our staff, donor partners, and volunteers. I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone of you who contributed your time, money, and energy to YouMeWe.

Short is life, long is love,

Michael Perry-Clemons

Chair and founder of YouMeWe

We are making an appeal for 500 people to donate $10 per month to help have a sustainable donation base to cover the costs of the work we do.

Today our Students made their own water ring game

Our teacher Daniel Mercier asked the kids at Thanan Pagmamahal “what do you want to make today?”. They told him that they want to make a video game like the water ring toys they enjoy playing with. It was such a great unique idea. So, Daniel worked with the kids and showed them how to program a game that plays like the underwater ring toss game. Getting the Physics just right took a lot of work but the kids are very smart and they figured it out.

Who do you want around you fire?

This is one of the questions on the Territory Mapping exercise.

The question is more about who do you want in your life who is in your corner? Who will support you no matter what? Who will encourage you.

When doing the training for this with two of our aged out youth, they both mentioned my name around their campfire.

I didn’t expect that and it made me feel both proud and accomplished.

We have been in their lives over ten years and continue to be there for them as they navigate their territory and life.

Meet Dorian

Hi everyone! I’m Dorian, and I’m really excited to join YouMeWe and take part in this meaningful journey. I was born in France, grew up in Spain, and have been lucky enough to study in places like the USA and Canada. Right now, I’m an exchange student in Japan, and that’s how I ended up with this amazing opportunity at YMW in Tokyo.

I love stepping out of my comfort zone, whether it’s traveling, exploring new cultures, or taking on new challenges. Being part of YouMeWe is a chance to do something meaningful while learning and growing along the way.

I’m looking forward to collaborating with the team, learning from this experience, and contributing to YouMeWe’s inspiring work.
